Swimming lessons for North York.
Double Time Swim Club is a North York swim club. The pool is at Newtonbrook Secondary School, 155 Hilda Avenue — a block west of Yonge Street between Finch and Steeles — which puts it within a short drive of most of the north end of the borough.
Lessons run Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at 8:00 PM, and Saturday mornings at 9:00 AM. Those evening times exist for a reason: they are after the working day and after dinner, which is when most families in North York can actually get to a pool.
Club lessons versus city programs
Most North York families start with a municipal learn-to-swim program. Those programs are inexpensive and they work well for water safety and early levels. Where they run out of road is progression: large groups, a rotating instructor, and a level structure that repeats rather than diagnoses.
A club sits in a different place. The coach knows the swimmer, watches the same stroke week after week, and picks the next correction deliberately. That is what parents are usually looking for when they search for swim lessons in North York after their child has finished a level or two and stopped improving.
Who swims here
Children aged 5 and up learning from the beginning, and children who can already swim a length but have no reliable breathing or kick. Swimmers preparing for a first meet or a club tryout. Adults learning for the first time, returning after years away, or trying to make the swim leg of a triathlon less expensive.
The one thing they have in common is that the lesson is chosen around the swimmer rather than the swimmer being fitted into a fixed level.
Getting to the pool
Newtonbrook Secondary School is on Hilda Avenue, immediately west of Yonge Street and north of Finch Avenue West. There is on-site parking, and Yonge Street bus routes and Finch subway station are both close by for swimmers travelling on the TTC.
Coming from further south in North York — Willowdale, Sheppard, Bayview Village — it is a straight run north on Yonge or west along Finch.

See full pricing →Double Time Swim Club teaches swimmers aged 5 and up. From five, most children can follow instruction, hold a focus for a full lesson and retain a correction from one week to the next, which is what makes real progress possible rather than just water play.

See the schedule →Yes. Adults are coached across every level — complete beginners who never learned as children, swimmers returning after years away, masters swimmers chasing times, and triathletes who need an efficient freestyle. Adult coaching is weighted toward technique and efficiency rather than drills designed for children.
See Adult & Masters →That is normal and it is not a problem. The first time in the water is an assessment: the coach looks at comfort, breathing, body position and stroke, then recommends the right program. You do not need to self-diagnose before getting in touch.
