A swimming club in North York.

Double Time Swim Club coaches swimmers of every level in one pool at Newtonbrook Secondary School — from a four-year-old’s first lesson to masters swimmers and triathletes working on efficiency.

Using a guide-like approach, we make young athletes aware of the areas in which they need improvement, show them better techniques, and put them through exercises that will reinforce the lesson, in compliance with the Lifesaving Society and Red Cross. Swimmers of all ages are welcome!

Our mission

We aim to deliver the highest quality of training, and make sure that swimmers are able to progress as fast as they are willing to push themselves.

Using a guide-like approach, we make young athletes aware of the areas in which they need improvement, show them better techniques, and put them through exercises that will reinforce the lesson, in compliance with the Lifesaving Society and Red Cross. Swimmers of all ages are welcome!

Coaching philosophy

How we coach.

Four things that shape every lesson, whether the swimmer is five or fifty.
01

Progress is the product

A lesson is not a success because it was fun. It is a success because something the swimmer could not do before is now something they can do. Every session is aimed at a specific, nameable change.

02

Meet the swimmer where they are

A nervous six-year-old and a triathlete with a dropped elbow need different things. The program is built around the swimmer's actual level and goal, not a fixed curriculum they have to fit into.

03

Technique before intensity

Swimming hard with a broken stroke reinforces the break. Mechanics get fixed first, then effort is added — that order is what makes the improvement permanent.

04

One coach who knows your swimmer

Alex coaches at the club and oversees every instructor at Double Time, so the standard is consistent and someone always knows exactly where each swimmer is up to.
